Jakarta, 20 Februari 2025 - In an effort to raise employee awareness about health, PT Danpac Pharma, in collaboration with BNI Life, held a Health Talk seminar on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The seminar, themed “Diabetes and Its Prevention,” took place in the Function Room of PT Danpac Pharma and was attended by approximately 30 employees. The guest speaker for the seminar was Dr. Kadek Puspita Widyarsani, SpPD, from Hermina Daan Mogot Hospital, who provided in-depth insights into diabetes mellitus, including risk factors, early symptoms, the dangers of high blood sugar, and prevention strategies.

The Importance of Understanding Diabetes Mellitus

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels in the body. If not properly managed, this condition can lead to serious complications. In the seminar, Dr. Kadek explained that diabetes can be categorized into type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common, often resulting from an unhealthy lifestyle.

The discussion session was highly interactive, with participants eagerly asking questions about who is at risk of developing diabetes, how to recognize early symptoms, whether diabetes is contagious, and the steps that can be taken to prevent the disease. Dr. Kadek emphasized that uncontrolled high blood sugar over time can lead to severe complications, such as heart disease, kidney damage, nerve disorders, and eye problems. Therefore, preventive measures must be taken as early as possible. Some key steps to prevent diabetes include:

  1. Adopting a Healthy Diet: Reducing the consumption of high-sugar and simple carbohydrate foods while increasing fiber intake from vegetables and fruits.

  3. Maintaining a Healthy Weight: Keeping an ideal body weight can reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  4. Managing Stress Effectively: Excessive stress can affect hormonal balance, including insulin levels.
  5. Routine Health Check-ups: Regular blood sugar level monitoring can help detect early signs of diabetes risk.

Free Medical Check-Up for Participants

As a demonstration of the company’s commitment to employee health, the event concluded with a Free Medical Check-Up session for attendees. The health check-up included measurements of uric acid levels, blood pressure, cholesterol, and random blood sugar levels. This initiative aimed to provide participants with an initial overview of their health status and help them take preventive steps if early signs of metabolic diseases, including diabetes, were detected.
